Hoop House

A realized design project that called for a small greenhouse structure to extend the growing season of planters on the roof of the James L. Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburgh. Each group was to design, to generate a set of drawings to describe the design, and lastly, to construct and install the project on site. My group used issues of aerodynamics and context to drive the logic and design forward. Our concept mimics the sloping nature of the convention center's roof using the rolling nature of heat shrunk greenhouse plastic to soothe the rough winds.
