This project called for a design to replace a portion of a pre-existing parking lot near the East Liberty Library in Pittsburgh, PA. The prompt was to provide not only an area for developing start-ups to afford a space to grow (incubator), but also an area for new art media to flourish and have a canvas with which to display work. My design proposal focuses primarily on the opening of a courtyard in the central area of the lot to allow for visual connection between the different programmatic elements while also allowing for a sizable outdoor congregation area for special events. The key idea of this concept is using the visual energy of each player on site to bring life to and feed one another.
